I stumbled across this article by David Vizard on another site and while I haven't finished reading it, found it a bloody interesting intro into some of the basic physics behind exhaust systems. Obviously the info in that article might be specific to the types of engines and exhaust systems David was working with and you can't trust everything you read on the Internet but this was first published in a print mag so it might be legit, right?

Thanks for the link: I came across the author researching exhausts this weekend, specifically 1/4 wave sidebranch resonators and Helmholtz resonators...
I want to quantify some of what I've learned from swapping out various components in my 3" TBE, with a view to developing the ultimate exhaust as regards both noise and flow.
I'm also learning about DIY gasket and port matching.
I'm interested also in what effect restrictions (if any) have on torque and response.
Its absolutely intriguing stuff!
