Planning my exhaust upgrade - MY07 GT Wags

Postby Shaheenis » Wed May 15, 2013 4:44 pm

G'day,

I have read a number of threads on exhausts in this forum but I am still confused on a few things and have seen very little mention of TCP which is surprising.

Atm I have a stock exhaust with STI mufflers. I want to keep the STI mufflers but want to upgrade everything else with a decent system for the best possible price. A mate of mine was involved with the R&D of the TCP system and from what I have seen and heard it is a top notch system and pricing seems to be right but I am not entirely sure what the other options are. I don't particularly want stainless but not sure if I can get what I want in mild with a considerable cost saving. The dump on the TCP has the CAT built in and it has a nice clean open mouth design and if I wanted to I could add a splitter. Cost of turbo back delete muffs is $1199.

What are your thoughts of:

a) How this system will perform?
b) How will it compare to other perhaps more cost effective options?
c) Are there any considerations I need to be aware of (such as O2 sensor location - not even sure where this should be and is on the TCP)?

I will do all of the fitment myself so will need to order this as parts only. I also want to keep the standard exhaust intact so I can re-install in the future for sale.

Cheers,
Shaheenis

the exhaust will basically perform just as well as any other full 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust. it will still be quiet cos you're keeping your standard mufflers. i had one of these on my car and it was great. i sold it and now have an x-force system but still have the TCP mufflers and its just as good...just cheaper. the bung for the O2 sensor is is the same place as stock so you wont experience any problems there.

an exhaust is an exhaust, the only real things that will make a diference the the restrictions: ie. the cat and the mufflers.
