Exhaust sounding different day after install

Hi all, had my exhaust installed yesterday and it sounded awesome, I was really surprised by how deep it was and loved it so much I drove all day.
Now this morning when I started my car and went for a quick drive the sound was still there but not as loud or deep, the sound of the engine was very prominent and it sounded a lot like it did with the stock exhaust.
Does anyone know why this is or is it just all in my head?
I've googled it and the only place I found any information was on a motorcycle forum where someone suggested it could be an exhaust leak.
As it was only installed yesterday could this be possible?
Any ideas?

If you had an exhaust leak big enough to affect noise coming from your mufflers, you would certainly know about it. That leak would be 10x louder than the note coming from your mufflers.
In your case, I would say the placebo effect wore off

Part of me hoped there was something wrong so I wasn't losing my mind.

probably something to do with carbon build up from the exhaust fumes. that changes the exhaust sound somewhat

Is this because i drove it for so long after it was put on? I did drive it very hard last night.
If that is the case would the only way to get it back to the deep growl it had before be to clean the pipes?

Out of curiosity what system did you go for, ie brand, catback or turbo back, is it in stainless, mild?

After a lot of research I finally went with the xforce mild steel 2.25" catback.
Overall I am really happy with it, I just went for another drive and noticed I definitely feel more comfortable going to higher revs.
The sound is still good just not beastly like it was yesterday.

I think what it might be is that the exhaust was so loud that I could hardly hear the engine. Now I can hear them both. Would carbon build up make the exhaust quieter?

I had the same system installed this week. From the time I picked it up until today it sounds the same, if anything it's gotta a touch deeper.
Pretty sure once the pipes start lining in soot the system will get deeper sounding.. well that's what one mechanic once told me. Makes sense though.
Maybe your head is playing tricks lol.

You're right, I must be going crazy.
It feels so good being able to rev it so high, shows how much work I need to put in suspension mods now though.
what do you think of the tips? I originally hated them but the more I look at them the more they are growing on me.

Without reading the previous posts too much, did the exhaust get a chance to warm up the days after it was installed?
I've only changed the mufflers on mine- when its cold, it sounds pretty stock, but once its warm (30-45mins of decent driving), it sounds completely different. (deeper, louder, and has some nice "vbbrrrbvbvbvbv" noises when you back off the throttle)
Also you might find that the exhaust note you hear now might be pretty different in a couple of weeks once its "warn in".

You know what I think you're spot on, that definitely makes sense.
Saturday was sunny as well and the last few days have been cold.
You're right, I did notice it sounding deeper and louder after driving for a bit but thought it was all in my head.

haha after a highway drive or something, give it a rev. You'll love it

I definitely love it. I think my girlfriend is a bit upset that I love my car more than her by just a little bit more now.

All of my exhausts have sounded deeper and tougher the hotter they get so that could be a factor.
