Exhaust modifications

Ok I've had my fun, make my car silent!

Postby xyz » Thu Dec 20, 2012 1:49 pm

Current intake & exhaust mods:

COBB Intake
Phat dump
3" centre w/ 16" resonator
2.25" y pipe
Glass pack mufflers

So I figured I'll return to the stock airbox to remove the induction sound, and the replace the mufflers with a varex one. Any other ways to reduce sound without losing performance? Don't have any engine related mods other than what I've listed + a tune.

Just returning to your stock air box will be all that's required to make your car quiet.

My Tip: Keep your mufflers and just install in the centre a WIDE / LONG 3" muffler :)

Put on stock mufflers or TB STi Mufflers

Find a universal silencer for the mufflers and custom fit them.

Something like this

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Universal-St ... 53f14c0e04

You get to keep your current setup and have it silent! :D

Intake silent or exhaust silent?

Stock intake and oem centre.

I just changed my centre back to oem today. With the Phat dump, and Prova mufflers its so much more sedate now.

Rockwool packed mufflers.....& twin 2.25inch center with a resonator in each, performance and quiet.
Unfortunately expensive....

My vote is:
#1 Jaydece's solution (keep the flow),
#2 Robbks solution (stealthback for awesome low down reponse),
#3 cruisn's solution but delete center res box for some moar low.

I'm on stock intake w/ Phat3" to AVO3"mid to mystery muff modded STi sedan quads for slightly louder than stock with quiet idle and cruise. It's love!

Thanks guys

When I put my foot down it seems like the rumble is coming from the dump but it could just be the mufflers. I'll try and put the stock mufflers back on and see how it goes.

Is it worth going to varex mufflers? I wouldn't mind some sound every now and then  Not sure how much they are though?
