Couldn't wait any longer for a listen. I've bitten the bullet and ordered an x-force mid and y pipe from best mufflers.
Hopefully they'll arrive and go on the Lib on Thursday.

That will make one more Sti quads/xforce centre combo in Melbourne. :)

Nick,

What cats are you running (and how many) and what diameter are the xforce centre & y pipes?

So why change them? (different/no resonator?)

There's a hot dog where the resonator once was in the mid pipe

Installed my new xforce centre and y pipe today..... Niiiiice! 8)

Slightly deeper note and as mentioned earlier in the thread, about 10-30% louder than with stock mid/y-pipe. :D

I haven't had a chance to have a really good drive yet but from what I can tell the sound level has definitely gone up a notch or two. WOT and uphill the volume is right on the limit of loudness for my conservative taste. I wouldn't consider going any further with high flow cats or headers, even though it would unleash a good deal more horses, it would simply be too loud/droney for me.

BTW I'm pretty sure there IS a difference in internal diameter between the stock and the x force. I believe stock mid is 2" and y pipe 1.75" whereas the xforce is 2.25" mid and 2" y pipe internal, so it's not just the resonator that is different.

Mick.

Feels like a slight increase but it may be my imagination. Getting a KiDo retune in Jan so that will maximise any benefits from a slightly freer flowing exhaust.
From what I've heard, max benefits for the H6 come from headers and freer flowing cats. Don't think I'll be going down that path as i've got the volume perfect andI don't want it any louder.

I have been looking to do exactly the same thing, but am thinking of changing the front cats to 100CEL and 3rd deleted, contemplating headers but a bit dear.
my main concern is drone at around the 3000rpm range (cruise on 130km/hr, as i live in NT) am thinking maybe to increase the size of the hotdog that comes with the H6 X-force y section, might take a bit of the noise out, not sure, any info would greatly help my cause, will be keeping a close eye on this space, cheers for the info so far, good job boys
