What do I actually need?

Postby gloryboy » Mon Oct 15, 2012 6:51 pm

Hey all,

I've been contacting a few places about getting quotes for a full cat back exhaust system for my 2.5 NA lib and am getting quite a huge variation in quotes. I'm looking for any power gains possible, however trying to avoid something that's ridiculously loud/drones.

I've read that a lot of people have gone with the X-force system which ranges between 600-850. In contrast, I've been quoted between $2200-$2500 from other companies. The only difference I can see is that the more expensive quotes are factoring in a bolt on High flow cat. I've also seen quotes for headers differ hugely as well.

What I'm hoping to find out from those who are more knowledgeable than me is what do I actually need?

If any one has the patience to explain this a little better to me it would be great. If you could link me to items of good value, i.e. high flow cat, catalytic convertor(?), full exhaust system ideas, headers, mufflers- ANYTHING for that matter, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm learning.... so come impart your wisdom upon me ;) If anyone could break it down one by one, you shall receive a gold star.

Thanks in advance for your patience and help.

:)

No worries man thanks heaps! Can I call you tomorrow afternoon? Sorry I didn't get back about the ECU, I posted on your other thread about tuning and that I can't swap it for mine :(

In the mean time if anyone else has any suggestions I'm all ears! I wanna learn as much as much as I can about this and see what everyone prefers :)
