Quad tips with burnt blue finish?

Postby Kody.B » Fri Oct 05, 2012 4:32 pm

So I'm thinking of putting a catback on my 2.5i sedan (I'm young, sorry to those who don't like exhausts on NA :))

Does anyone know of quad tips which come with the burnt blue finish on the tip?

I doubt an L plater wants to spend 1800 on mufflers.

After having a small heart attack, I've realized that blue mufflers suddenly aren't so appealing XD
I hear there is someway you can do it yourself so ill have to look into that.
Thanks for letting me know about those anyway, but a little bit (a lot ) out of budget haha

Try a local exhaust shop, welding new tips on is pretty straight forward. Expect titanium tips to be a bit pricey though... $100 a tip wouldn't surprise me.

Invidia also do the blue tip mufflers.
You will need a full cat back system with invidia as their mufflers won't bolt up to the OEM y pipe.

Invidia is a 3" cat to Y pipe though, will drone like a bitch.

Source some Titanium exhaust tips online ;)

I was thinking of getting a custom cat back done up and only buying the tips. If the invidia tips weren't expensive, could I connect them to a custom cat back and would I still encounter the drone?

If you get titanium tips, you can hear treat them yourself with a blow torch, or there is a method involving anodizing it using batteries...google will help with that lol.

I know of someone selling a K2 gear catback early next year but the blue is quite faded!

2.25" catback into twin 2" entry mufflers and then use the tips on mufflers. Would work great!

I've decided against titanium I think, the cost is obscene for something that I only really wanted for looks. I think a nice set of stainless/chrome quads will do nicely.
Thanks though :)

That was what I was thinking. I'm hoping for a bit more car response, and this is one of the few options I have since I have a stupid Hitachi ECU :angry2:
Thanks for your help :)

Yes, it will drone like a bitch and then some.
Been there, done that, not recommended for people that can hear.
