Just Mufflers?

Running a complete stock setup with the car's exhaust, and wanted to make that engine sound a little nicer...Im not exactly looking to make power gains and spend heaps, but mostly to give it a nice note when giving it a squirt and not loud when driving normally (60-70Kph)

Is just changing the mufflers gonna achieve this? any changes to exhaust note/power/etc?

Looking at Ultrex single or twin tip SS mufflers.

Car is a Auto 2004 MY05 3.0R

I know what you mean, stock is pathetic sounding!
I dont have much experience with the 3.0 but anything helps I guess.

My stock catback didnt look that restictive actually, Im pretty sure just chaning the mufflers to a straight through design will be enough for what you want... Shop around for the mufflers though, IMO anything more then $500 for bolt on mufflers is a rip off. My catback cost me $500 delivered.

hit up Best Mufflers @ Sydney, get a XForce center and y pipe sent to you, make it to some TCP quads and you will love the sound!

What benefit does adding a centre and y pipe add to the car? Sound/power wise?

Just mufflers with give you some noise when you accelerate hard but still remain very quiet on idle and start up

Ultrex offered a set of single canons for 250, ss. Their quads are apparently coming back in stock this week so I might wait it out...

this batch had a slight defect - they need a very minor tweak to install ( i think a 10mm bend or something), so rob at ultrex is selling them for cheap - $260 a set, usually go for 400+

I got mine installed and tweaked for $60, only took 30 minutes.

if your interest i advise you jump on them asap!

Hi mate

Bought a set as well after reading your post. Have you noticed an smell from the mufflers after the first few drives?

yeah, that lasted for a week or two. that pretty normal for it to smell straight after an install apparently.

hope your liking the sound! :D
