VAREX MUFFLERS

Postby Djmaster05 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 12:44 am

Hey guys just throwing out a thread to see how much interst there is in people purchasing Varex mufflers.
Pretty much what the deal is is that I was looking at purchasing varex VMK7-250 mufflers from bestmufflers.com.au and it has been brought to my attention that cost for freight decreases with a higher quantity of items purchased so I wanted to see how much interest there is in peeps on here purchasing items to see if a discounted price can be gained from bulk buying as well as decreased freight cost.

In short, please let me know on here if you are interested in purchasing anything from www.bestmufflers.com.au over the next week or so and I will send an inquiry in for a quotation and post the results back on here.

Look forward to hearing from everyone,

Cheers,

Dejan.

Make sure you let them know that you will be running a dual muffler set up so they send you the correct wiring harness :).

Oh I came across these last night they are a bit cheaper and from the sounds of things (if someone can confirm or correct me) legal for on road use :)
Don't know what performance difference would be though.

Yes best mufflers mention that on their web page, sorry I should have gone into a bit more detail instead of just posting the link, I am thinking about going with Lukey Dynomax VT mufflers they are $195 each with free postage seem to be a similar frame of mind as the Varex (valve to control air path) but a different design.

please check out HOOKER mufflers.....and I'm not joking...

even before I went to put them on my car I was told they were illegal....which to this day I dont quite understand? 1 reason is cause it's not compliant? and that it gives the owner the ability to change a rate of sound which is deemed to be illegal at a certain db.... ( go figure )

you could argue that any mods we do to our car are illegal? where does the line get drawn?

Actually, the VAREX legality can be fixed, but think it's still prototype stage the last time I checked.
Anyhow, the law state that a car owner should not be able to change the volume of the exhaust manually. Thus you can't pass the exhaust noise test, flick a switch and blast your way around town.

But if this is automated then it would be okay thus you have many production cars out there with volume changing exhaust. I think some aftermarket ones does it too but will need to double check.
So in theory all you need is a device that perhaps monitors the throttle level or the RPM and automatically close and open the valve.
