Hey all,

I have a My06 Auto 3.0R
In a perfect world i would like a slightler louder than stock sound when cruising and a good note when giving it some. I dont want it to be really loud.

I have come across some sti mufflers that has done 10,000kms that i might be able to get for $400.

Is this a good deal?
Will these give me the sound i am after?

if you can get 10 000km old sti mufflers for $400... jump on the deal straight away! they usually go for more than that price!

Thats what i like to hear I suppose i will just get them fitted and see how i like them.

are they from a liberty or a WRX STI tim?

i think there is someone on here with a 3.0R and STi mufflers... good sound, and just a tad louder than stock so you can hear them

They are from a liberty " 2008 Subaru Liberty TB STi". Would it be worth asking him about wether its from a wagon or sedan as i have read somewhere that they are different lenths

Also yes there is somone with the ONLY the Sti mufflers in a 3.0r but theres alot of echo, so its abit hard to hear what they actually sound like.

Yes. The sedan cans have shorter length tips. Personally, I'd go wagon cans on a sedan just coz I like the look of them sticking out

I had STi mufflers on my 3rb many moons ago and Simon's post is spot on.

$400 is an awesome deal if they are in good nic.

Overpriced IMO. For standard mufflers with STi tips.
Pay a fraction more for free flowing full stainless mufflers

Trust me, with a wagon, sticking to stock/sti muffler is about the only way of retaining sanity.
Otherwise you will have a very boomy exhaust around 3000rpm.

This is especially the case after getting 3" TBE. YMMV for a 3.0R.

Otherwise the STI Quads usually sells for $600 so $400 is a very good deal.
I am still trying hard to find a set for my wagon.

Id say go with the STi quads.

I like the sound as its just a tad louder and Im over noisy exhausts.

Somone mentioned that these were just stock mufflers with different tips...

Is this true? would there be any difference in the internals of the muffler itself...I dont really want to pay $400 just for the tips?

I would expect that they are the exact same "design" as the single outlet ones
i.e two internal chambers
the gas enters the muffler and travels via solid pipe to the rearmost chamber
holes in teh baffle plate allow it to flow back to the first chamber
then a "J" shaped pipe (for non-sti cans) colelcts teh gas and puts it out the rear tip

the STi version would just have two "J" pipes
the extra noise/ note would just come from the higher flow out of teh muffler and different resonance gained from two pipes instead of one
