Custom exhaust :)

Hey guys, already got the down pipe (HKS) but just looking to do the center are y pipes now, was going to get a "phat" center and y but he's not making them anymore, so I'm getting a custom made one,

Going with two 10" resonators to keep the drone and idle noise down but I don't know to go 2.5" or 3" on the Y pipe,
I'm keeping my stock mufflers... For now :p.

Also can't decide on turbo upgrade options. Thinking Vf34 as it's not over the top and I'm only looking for 200-210 kwatw.

I run a 3 inch pipe to the y pipe and then it splits to 2.5 inch. Has a really good note to it and there are reasons which were explained to me by my exhaust builder but I can't remember but seeing he builds race cars and used to race as well I took his word for it :-p

Thanks for the advice, the only reason I can think of about the 2.5" Y pipe is to help keep pressure consistent, obviously going from one 3" pipe to two 3" pipes is going to have a drop in pressure, where as going into two 2.5" pipes would help keep the pressure more consistent, but I don't know a whole lot when it comes to what's the best size and type of exhaust to go for. That's why I'm posting about it lol.

2" after the Y is more than ample for your power goal.

Why go full exhaust and keep the restrictive muffs on there?

Thanks for the info mate :). Would there be much of a noise difference between 2.5" and 3" Y pipes?

Also the VF34 is a single scroll from memory and you have a 05 GT which is twin scroll. Moving from twin to single scroll is a big job, need to change a lot of other pipe work from what I've been told

i would stick with 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 Y pipe any bigger and you will drasticly loose clearance height. (lower your car and your pipes will hang low)

Yea thats the thing I was woundering with the vf34, I was told that it would be a straight bolt on as I have a HKS dump pipe, but I didn't really think the guy knew what he was on about.

He DIDNT know what he was talking about.

Even the STi twin scroll VF37 isnt a straight bolt on. Without major work, there is simply is no bolt on upgrade for the twin scroll GT.

I wouldnt go 2.5" pipes to the mufflers either for your needs. 2.25" max and as said 2" will be more than adequate.

Mark: how come you want me to go only 2" or 2.25" on the Y, wouldn't that be to restrictive when I upgrade the turbo and mufflers?

Depends on how much power you want to make in the end too.

Looking to get around 200-210 kw atw, any ideas for good twin scroll turbo upgrades? I'm just susing out some other cars people have done turbo upgrades on.

The stock mufflers sound like balls. Most of the noise is from the centre and y pipe.

Thanks Hamish lol :), Im only giving it a few weeks and I'm sure I'll be getting new muffs.
Thinking about going x force mid and Y pipes as they are a good price, anyone have any good or bad points on x force?
