New Exhaust For Gen 3 Heritage

Postby AB501UT!0N » Sat Sep 10, 2011 10:19 pm

Hi All,

I'm getting a new exhaust on this Wednesday for my liberty and I wanted to get some suggestions from you
guys on style and diameter and so on. I'm getting it done at Ed's Exhaust in Bendigo for anyone who is interested.
All help would be great. Thanks again and will post pics up of car tomorrow after it has had a good clean!

Thanks
Chris

Whats getting done? Diff back, cat back?

Id go no bigger than 2 1/4" piping on the 2.5NA. If its cat back, make sure you get a hot dog/resonator in the middle as it will take the raspiness out of the note.

A nice oval straight through rear muffler and stainless 3" or 4" single tip to finish it off.

i agree with cruisin for pipe diameter but with tips my preference would be say a magnaflow muffler with twin 2.5 tips. depending on whether they fit in the gap in the rear bar. When i had mine put on i had to have some of the black plastic cut out at the back, you can't see it from the front though.

Thanks for both your input and and yes I am going for 2 and 1/4 for the size and its for the catalytic convert back and for the tip I'm still
not sure, cause i like the dual tips and I like a 4 inch tip but i cant make up my mind and one other question
should I get tilted down exhausts or just straight ones and below are pics or my car. Thanks again

and also I spent 4.5 hours cleaning my car!

The cut out in your bumper is circular, not oval so thats whay id go with a round tip. You wont fit a decent set of twin tips in that cutout.

DONT get a tilted down tip, ie dump style, bogan spec. Straight out either straight or angle cut.

After seeing the cutout I'm thinking a decent single tip that fits nicely in the gap. As cruisin said you won't fit any kind of decent twin tip system in that gap

I saw a nice stainless muffler with a single 3 inch tip (I think) the other day. Looked very neat

Looks good, I had to have my twin tips hung slightly lower to get them to fit as well due to the tight fit

Personal preference, but the twins dont suit the Gen3 IMO.

Like putting a square peg in a round hole.......

Thanks James and yes it is on a slight angle like yours and Mark I know what u mean but when I tried a single tip it looked like a Hyundai with a 40 ft drain pipe out the back so
I opted for dual but like u said personal preference and thanks all for ur input, I appreciate it :)
