Postby Jed3.0rb » Thu Jul 07, 2011 5:17 pm

hey guys,
how would i go about getting that beautiful crackley popping sound from my 3.0r spec b???
just really love it! and need it!
have been considering going with the X-force Catback and changing the 2 front cats to high flow ones and removing the third all together.
but how could i get that crackle?

From what I understand, the 'crackle' is usually unburnt fuel going through the exhaust.. I'm guessing you'll need to be running quite a rich tune to achieve this.. Maybe take out all the cats too. But that's just my guess.

ooohhhh, that sounds unhealthy rather than cool :?
would it be doing damage to the engine and exhaust system then?

The GT's get the crackle from a JDM brand exhaust like Fujitsubo. Not sure if the N/A will achieve the same sound though.

I have a h6, with xforce catback, and removal of the 3rd cat, and i get zero crackle. I hate to toot my own trumpet. but my exhaust is the best 3L liberty ive heard. i deff recoment the xforce cat back. and removing the third cat makes more louder then u might think.

you aren't blowing your trumpet. I put the xforce on last august and its a great exhaust system.

the third cat, as in the "Y" section at the rear of the headers,
or the large resonator in the centre pipe?

I've seen others refer to the centre resonator as the 3rd Cat

I want my exhaust to be reasonably loud, and have a nice throaty idle that is audible, but not race car loud at idle, preferably no drone.
fussy much???
