Interesting! I just recently was on the verge of replacing my O2 sensor, but it turned out to be dirty. If this helps to decrease the sensor getting fouled, it would be a worthwhile investment.

If I'm thinking about this properly, pulling it out of the flow of gases would mean it reads less oxygen, which would mean the ECU thinks the mixture is richer than it is so it'd lean it out to compensate. Our cars run more than one O2 sensor though IIRC so it might not change anything at all... ?

I'd be keen to hear if anyone knows for sure though, just out of interest :)
