Sti vs Aftermarket mufflers

Postby jeffas4966 » Thu May 24, 2012 7:40 pm

Hi Guys,
I am just wondering how restrictive the std Sti quads are vs your typical aftermarket muffs eg TCP/Ultrex

Any thoughts

Cheers

I read somewhere that someone reported the stock mufflers don't become restrictive till ~200kw+ (or maybe it was 230?)

Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong

EDIT: found where it was mentioned

yep, you need to PM Bruce (Bass Straitener).

The STI mufflers are pretty good to keep noise levels down to almost stock levels on a 3inch turbo back system but to get peak power results you really need to get proper high flow mufflers.

The standard mufflers don't restrict power outputs too much until you go North of 200awkw.
