Hi Guys, anyone use or heard of Megan Racing & know if they are any good?

I have stumbled across these "Megan Racing OERS V2 Cat Back Exhaust".

**NOTE: 05+ Subaru Legacy GT Single Tip, Piping: 3; Tip: Single 4**

I've been quoted USD$800 shipped to my door.

The three main things I'm trying to find out are:
1. Do Megan Racing make quality exhausts?
2. Does anyone have or heard this exhaust?
3. Most importantly will this exhaust fit straight on to the factory dump pipe? *Until i get around to buying a Phat GT dump pipe.

Any information is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There's a member with one system, have a look at the exhaust thread and the hundreds of legacy.gt forums members. Seem to be good quality

Funny you bring this up, I actually looked into getting a set for my 2.5NA (mufflers only though, yes I know I'd have to get it modified).

There were obviously issues in the early stages of the production but from what I can tell it's all been ironed out. I think the catback will bolt right up, although the one member on here with a set did report mufflers hanging lower than usual but that's something any muffler shop can fix up.

One thing that somewhat turned me off the Megan Racing catback was the fact that the mufflers were designed (unintentionally) so that the outside tips flowed more air than the inside tip. So after a few weeks you'll have one tip all sooted up and another one still fairly clean, also on cold days it'll appear that your inside tip was purely for sure, and that bothered me lol. But I guess I'm just pretty picking when it comes to aesthetics.

Matt.
I personally went dump pipe first on our wagon before touching the rest of the system.
The dump pipe seems to be the most restrictive component in the standard exhaust system, changing this first will definitely lead to better driveability and you'll only be a little worse off out of pocket.
Just my opinion mate, if you still wish to go the cat back system I'd speak to a local reputable exhaust shop and have them fabricate one to suit your needs.
All the best with the decision mate.
Cheers,
Rusty.

So i've got myself a Phat dump pipe, It'll be going on Thursday...
Now back to the exhaust, is it still worth getting?
I'm pretty sure that changing the dump pipe will not change exhaust note.
Is that right?

The note of your exhaust will be slightly deeper and more aggressive, but DB wise it won't be any louder, I hardly noticed any difference when I changed my dump with stock cat back.

Is a tune required after replacing the dump pipe?
I am getting a mixed messages regarding the necessity of a tune after a dump pipe is installed.

You don't "have" to, but to get the full gains of it you do, I would do all your exhaust then get a tune.

I have had my full exhaust on for about 2 months now with no tune.
Runs a bit rich but I've had no troubles.

I plan to get a tune asap but funds keep going on other things so it probably won't be until early next year now.

If you want to listen to mine with the full exhaust for comparison you're welcome to. Could have last night when I picked up the sways if i'd have known.
