im talking about the overall shape, pre 07 = tough

To be honest, I had to double take to see what the difference was in the 2 photo's you posted... Both look very similar over all. In fact, I think the new wide bodied WRX in both sedan & hatch looks pretty good... If they came with a DSG style gear box I seriously would've considered one.
