That was on the news here about a week ago.
Is anyone else bothered by the media uncritically reporting that he was "saved" by another motorist throwing water on the petrol?
Note the motorist runs straight past a fire extinguisher mounted on the pole next to the bowser...

You never know how you'll react in such a situation. Some people just freeze/freak out. Good on the other motorist. Lucky escape.

Yes. We are taught not to do that in Primary School...However it appears that Australia desperately needs 'heroes'.
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

And the fact that the guy who started the thing in the first place was actually standing right next to an extinguisher when the whole incident started. Maybe it's my CFS training or fear of fire but I always know where those things are when I go to fill up.

cheers,

Oh wow, I really wish I was surprised by this but unfortunately no :( But glad the cops were in the right place at the right time though, don't like to think how long she would have been on the road otherwise.
