I'll be doing the same... work 5 mins away so it's easy for me (assuming I manage to get away from work at 5). :D

Picked up my helmet today off a mate... im good to go now!!
The weathers predicted to be fine.. cant wait!

P.s. do people remove the drivers head rest when wearing the helmet, or is it fine with a helmet?

I would think leave your headrest in place... it's a safety feature of your car. You might not even pass scrutineering without it perhaps?

If you are in a situation where you need your helmet not having a headrest will more than likely end with you having a broken neck.

Unless you have a HANS device, but I'm guessing we're not that deeply into motorsport here. :)

Unfortunately, I have to bail on this Wednesday night, I have a sick kid and being away from home for the evening isn't going to be well received...

Shift at whatever point will put you in the meat of the torque curve for next gear

I'm a little worried about them kicking me off with the smoking of the new header wrap I put on

Apparently takes a few days of driving to settle so let's see

Im keen as mustard!!
Still unsure whether id be better to leave it in drive or use the paddles.. have to try it both ways. Theres too much delay with my paddles to get an accurate shift point.

I'd say use the paddles man. Might be worth a try shifting out of 1st earlier, ie before 6000. Worked a little for me in 0-100 runs, so should see proper gains in a 1/4 mile :)

Everyone's paddles have a delay. It's built into the tcu, just practice hitting it a little earlier. 1st will probably need the earliest tap, compared to the other gears as it's probably the fastest revving gear and if you don't tap the shift early enough it might rev out to redline, wasting some time. Not much point to red lining 1st :)

You did mention your gears shift a bit early themselves? If so, staying in manual mode will prevent it from shifting up early so you can rev out the higher gears

Goodluck! !

Ps. Check out my vids in 0-100 tuning thread under "tuning". In 1st I was hitting shift at like 3000 iirc and it would shift just as that peak torque developed at 5000 (as no loss of torque on shift :D) and it was a fantastic launch into the meat of the 2nd. Manual owners rave about flat foot shifting while we've had it all along! God bless autos.

Yeah im well practiced at tapping early now, but thats a great tip on 1st gear! If I brake boost ill almost have to tap it the second I release the brake.
My auto does feel like it changes early from 2nd to 3rd, but even in manual mode it changes it early by itself. Having said that I haven't ever looked at the rpm to see when its changing as at that speed I try and keep my eyes on the road haha. Ill be checking at the drags though!
