My first run i always go for the .000 reaction time as you can win some money.

Street Meets DO NOT count reaction time in your final time. Don't rush your launch to keep up with the lights especially if you are nervous you will stuff up and most likely bog down.

Time only starts once you cross the line.

PS Launch is critical for a good time 60fter is a great indicator of your peformance launching. Every 0.1sec you can shave off the 60fter = 0.2 to 0.4 at the finish line!

Yeah great reminder

0.4 in the deep for every 0.1 in 60ft is at the upper end.

Usually around 0.2-0.25 in my experience.

So if you can get your 60ft from say 2.00 to 1.90 then you will shave 0.2-0.25 off your ET assuming the same variables for remainder of the 400m

When I was pulling 1.9 60 ft in my old setup I was doing 12.5-12.6

Got it down to 1.7 something and did a 12.21 and that hit rev limiter in first and boost cut before the line in 4th gear.

With latest setup my best 60 ft is 2.74 with a 13.1 et, so if I can get down to 1.7 again then it will go 10.9-11.1

Also if you're going for a high trap speed (mph), better to drive it steadily off the line and stretch gears

Great tips guys!
Im definitely not going to go for reaction time.. especially if im going to try and load up the brakes.. too hard to time it right id guess.

Don't stall for too long Adam as you will cook trans fluid and affect your shifting

What's a good rpm to launch at for a manual?

I don't want to break anything or cook the clutch

the "launch" needs to be a slipped launch not a clutch dump because you will either bog down (won't break traction and hop) or slam your transmission hard.

if you slip and launch you will keep the revs high and ready to be on boost and slip away nicely.

I found 4000rpm to be a sweet spot but it will vary from car to car (power / torque band etc)

Do I need to be there at 4:30 next week? Does it take a while to get cleared to drive?

I would suggest getting there by absolutely no later than 6:30 to get in to race

But aim for 5:30-6pm

It gets full pretty quick and scrutineering takes a good 30-45mins
