I had an interesting race tonight. An E500 merc with an incredibly loud exhaust... I assume after market although who can tell with the factory exhausts on mercs nowdays.
I was caught unaware and was only in sport mode, but we were very evenly matched.
I looked up its specs. 285kw and 0-100 in 5.3 seconds & $170,000 new. So on paper in sport sharp I should have just got him, but i could still see the disappointment on his face that I even kept up. :D

Was a car length behind a VE SSV with CAI, full exhaust and tune on the drag strip.
Chopped him on the launch but he overtook by the end of the 1/4 mile.

Not to bad considering it was 3.0L vs. 6.0L

Thats seriously impressive jay!
At a guess that commodore would have had 280-300awkw.
I haven't been on the forum in a while so missed your drag times. What did your car end up running?

haha. Well done Adam. I find it amusing the looks on their faces knowing the money theu spent on their car didn't equate to drag strip dominance.

14.4 @110mph except the final speed trap was wrong every time which sucked.
the commodore ran a 13.9, he struggled for grip up to 100kph.

A mate has a 300atrw ss on the HPF dyno in melb. He just about beat my stock block on pump up to 50km/hr (because no traction) but once he let it rip and his wheels could finally grip - holy crap that car squatted and just flew. I'd say 11-12 second car at that power.

Time for a rematch on my new turbo

Firstly, well done thats a solid time!!
Drag racing makes no sense to me. How does the trap speed not directly reflect the time? Is it something to do with wheel spin?

the trap speed is a true indication of the power of the car.

Well done jay. Mph is true reflection of power and is pretty hard to be incorrect. Although i must admit i was surprised st the trap speed you pulled for the mods done (thats 240awkw territory in a gen4)

Back on topic - Keep a look out for a cheap dark blue r35 gtr with exhaust which i have a sneaking suspicion will be for sale soon (if he doesn't trade it in)

Being beaten by a silver family sedan from a 40kmh rolling start with his mate in the car would've hurt a little I think
