cheers,

Very very easy to ave more then 12.5l/ 100.

i believe on redbook, everything is over exaggerated a little bit just to make it look that little bit better in the buyers eyes :)

i did a one off 0 - 100 in my wags a few months back on a private, closed road. 8 years old, 100 000kms, full tank of petrol, stock clutch, tyre pressure was a smidgen lower than usual, and i weigh 120kg's... i managed 0 - 100 in 7.8 seconds. it was the 1 and only run i've done

Good grief!

Mine sits around 9.5l/100km and, if I really push it, it might hit 11. On the SA Cruise through the hills recently mine read 10.6 as I entered the garage at home - and I know I pushed it really hard that day.

Sorry, I think we wandered off topic there.

cheers,

I absolutely snapped a headers back & tuned SS ute a few months ago in my one and only drag in my car (had the car almost 3 years.....)
I even got a shit start, if I had a great start I would have left the guy in the fucking dust while he spun his tyres around.
Best feeling ever, cause the guy was in the left lane of a left lane ends just after the traffic lights, he was trying so hard and wanted to be in front, and even after he had clearly lost he was still trying. So much so that he was close to hitting my car when he merged in, because he just couldn't handle his fully sick commodore being beaten by a Liberty

Nothings funnier than someone who gets beaten off the lights but keeps racing even after the winner has backed off.... they seem so pleased with themselves that theyve beaten you.... in their eyes anyway haha

Oh haha sorry I thought you thought the guy had over taken me at the end. Wasn't going to happen even though he was trying so hard that there was like about 2 feet between our cars as he merged when we were doing about 70.
I know what you mean, you have those mini drags with people and then they take it way too far and after you back off around 80-100km/h (speed limit) after beating them, they fly past at 120km/h and go up to like 150km/h to prove just how fast they can go or something
Mate my car can get to 200km/h just as quick/quicker than your V8, and I'll beat you off the line every fucking time. Get over it!

From a purely seat of the pants measurement, I would say my liberty would have been no match for my commodore until it made the 196 atw with my turbo upgrade.

Having driven an ss for four years I can tell you there is no way a stock or even mildly modified lib (im talking say cat back and air filter / tune type mild mods) of any sort can beat an ss unless the guy can't drive or took off in second (even then I still think the commodore would win).

I don't street race, but I did scare many a V8 driver with my lib before I blew the motor (including a ve maloo ute on eflex with 385 kw atw ;) )

Yeah theres no doubt that even just a tuned SS can make much more power than most of our libs, but their biggest downfall has always been getting their power to the ground. I put a photo up a while ago of my friends 450atw SS ute.. thats insanse power, but im pretty confident he'd lose off the line in most races. It just spins the wheels no matter what gear hes in.

I beat a V8 in my 2.5 once.

I absolutely flew past him as he was parked on the side of the road...
