I did this event with the MG club on Australia Day.
There was a bit of chit-chat about it in one of the Melbourne Kebab topics at viewtopic.php?p=206052#p206052
but I did so well, I want to record it here.
The aim of the exercise is to drive a nominated course using the least amount of petrol possible.
To make it fairer for different models, the total MPG is multiplied by the weight of the car + passengers in tons.
Here's the course we did:

It was about 140km of hilly roads, and I used 9.19 litres. That was all keeping the revs below 2,000 (about 50km/h in 4th gear), or rolling with the engine shut off.
We weighed 1160 kg, so when converted to imperial units, that was 54.150 Ton-MPG.
I won the MGA class, and came third outright. http://www.mgcc.com.au/competition/2012-comp01.shtml
There's some photos and a video of the event at http://gallery.mgcc.info/
My brother got carsick on the trial run, so I put my name in the hat for "drivers needing navigators", and was assigned a nice lady club member I've never met before.
