GB EOI - Perrin TMIC (while $US is nice)

Postby cpitts » Thu Nov 26, 2009 1:37 pm

Doin some searching and came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Perrin-08-WRX-Top-Mount-Intercooler-TMIC-PSP-ENG-320_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b7c3847eQQitemZ110457226366QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

$US800 for a Perrin TMIC seems like a good deal.

The question would be, for a GB, how many could be had for what price.

Alternatively, if there's a cheap provider in the US, what they'd do a GB on these for, seems cheaper than the AVO alternative of late, they've got inflationitis of late.

Any interest????

Good luck trying to get Perrin to ship them to OZ.

I was speaking to them, back when the dollar was still low and I managed to get a price for 2 tmic shipped here, its was $1350 USD for both, when it came time to transfer funds and organise shipping, they longer replied to my emails or phone calls.

BTW……….. Fitment is still an issue on the manual version, due to the under side of the tmic making contact with the clutch master cylinder reservoir, this results in excessive vibration through the clutch pedal and no clearance to remove the cap off the reservoir.

Also I had no luck with any local supplier either.

Quality answer, just what I needed to hear.

Are there any other options that fit properly with the right clearance and can be had at a good rate at the moment (or in the coming 6 mths) ?

Avo of course, buts it’s small when compared to Perrin or Hyperflow.. Also the fit of the avo is not great, there is not enough clearance for the bolts which secure the tmic to the turbo flange.

Hyperflow should be more flexible with it's price IMO, being a local product, not sure if process west has come to game yet with a tmic to suit our cars.

My AVO TMIC fit well on my car for the record. Not the best TMIC but still better than stock for certain. Summer is here so you better do something soon CPitts

meh, my end target is beyond this summer, I'm still in parts collection mode. Don't have any spare TGV deletes from your upgrade cycle that you want to get rid of? :P

LOL at the rate you are going Craig your car will be old and tired by the time you are ready to mod it. DGV delete is a waste of time for the cost and effort required imo unless you plan to upgrade the internals / rebuild the engine. Its a Liberty not a WRX STI.

By the way May 2010 will see my car go back to stock and parts sell off.

Craig.

I was given group buy discounted prices earlier this year for Hyperflow TMIC's.

04GTLIB wrote:I was in the process of organising an EOI group buy thread for these.

Oh well, doesn't look like I was quick enough.

Here's the prices John from Hyperflow quoted me anyway....

Group buy of 5 or more (15% discount)...
Polished - $1096.50
Covert - $1054.00

Group buy of 10 or more (20% discount)...
Polished - $1032.00
Covert - $992.00

This was for 03-06 models part # HYTM-LIBGTC and the 07-09 models part # HYTM-LIBGT07C.

Covert is black in colour guys.

Could you verify the above prices for the forum members please John.

Cheers.

I have to say I'm extremely happy with their product and service.

Cheers,
Rusty.

Yeah, can understand your point of view here. I've done the whole 'lease car, mod car over time, drive & enjoy, set it up just right, return to stock, sell' a few times and the thing that erks me the most is that by the time you get the car perfect (audio, performance and cleaning up the bugs) you get maybe 12mths out of it before it's sell time.

My approach with this car is more around longer term ownership. As such, the extra 6 mths is neither here nor there to me. My timeline on the car is years, not months.

w.r.t TGV deletes, I'll leave that for a separate thread.
