Basically want to run a group buy on damd D bottom steering wheel.
Priced normally around 700-750 Aussie dollars. There's little to no difference between prices in styles such as round or D shaped or blue or red stitching ect.
I hope to achieve a price of 650 possibly less
I plan on purchasing them through garage 88. i have talked to him about this. Any questions feel free to pm me on here or on fb (nigel squires) If in sydney they have some on display
For this i need a define number of people in order for to get maximum discount and i don't want people to be pulling out last min. I will more then likely require at least a deposit\payment before ordering/final costing
There are two main ones for liberty's.
1. Pre facelift (04-06)http://www.damd.co.jp/steering/ss358-d_f/
2. Post facelift (07-09)http://www.damd.co.jp/steering/ss358-d_l/

Please only register you interest I you feel you can afford to and are interested
Aim get numbers together late feb early march. This gives you enough time to hide money or what ever you do.
For our interstate members other then Sydney/Wollongong and Newcastle metro i would say budget postage would be 20-30 for postage. i will get a closer better estimate in the due course

Just confirming its just the frame and we can reuse the stock centre cover and steering wheel controls?

Is this a diy job?

Yes, basically what you'll get is in the image below. Stock on the right and a Prova (not Damd but apparently manufactured by them) on the right - they basically look the same on the inside. And the buttons and Airbag etc get transferred.
I got mine a while ago, and even though removing the Airbag can be scary the first time, it's safe with the battery disconnected.

It's a pretty basic job for anyone with some mechanical skill. There are clips on YouTube that go through it step by step. It just takes a lot of force to undo the steering wheel nut, so a breaker bar is recommended (or a second pair of hands). You'll need a Torx bit for the Airbag, but the other screws are Philips Head, and a Hex nut secures the steering wheel itself.

Thanks Tom. I've watched a couple of videos and it does seem straight forward. I've replaced steering wheels on older cars before but never tried a modern car.

Is the drivability the same as the stockie?

Yeah the drivability is very similar. The DAMD wheel is a little bit smaller, so the steering feels a bit more direct (but not too direct, since the size difference is only minor).
The wheel itself feels harder - maybe because there's not as much foam under the leather. But I've driven the car non-stop for 4h+ and haven't felt uncomfortable (unlike eg a wooden wheel).
The grooves for your thumbs are also a lot deeper, but I like that - very ergonomic.
I have the flat bottom one, so that's a bit weird when eg parking - but it's something you'll get used to.

Interested if this goes ahead.

I have a 09 Forester that I'd like to get a DAMD Wheel for.
