Good news!

Wasn't planning on dropping more dosh on the car.... I hate this place as much as I love it

Leaning towards the silver cooler and also the kompact BOV that doesn't add noise.

Any photos of the black intercooler around?

Hahaha good job guys!!
Below car has been gone for quite some time now... blew bottom end bearing and dealership screwed me! Now driving 2008 WRX with ~65k kms on the clock. Only has cat back exhaust and tune by KiDo at the moment! More to come... but slowly!

Purchased recently (12/11/2013), already with: Stage 2 Pedders lowered springs, rear Whiteline sway bar, Advan Racing TCII 18x8 wheels, k&N pod filter, custom 3" exhaust system from turbo back with Magnaflow mufflers. ECUTEK tune of some sort (hopefully soon to be fixed)..... now FIXED!! Now KiDo Tuned!
Added: HID kit, EZ lip equivalents to the front and sides, and various LED treatments, oem boot spoiler, [LGT WRC] plates, GFB Respons BOV for extra Pssscchhh! --> Gone... I couldn't afford it's heart transplant... but keep a look out, as it will come back on sale soon!

To OP,
Are these coolers any good?
Sorry I have been out of the modding game for a while and just not up to date any products at the moment.
Also, are they the soft Alu like the AVO and have the problem of stripped threads??

Yes, I would like to express interest in black (+10) will also consider (+5).

Thank.

I spoke to my tuner (MSR) on the weekend about them. He says they're great coolers. And has been able to get proven results on the dyno with them.

I can't comment on the material quality, but I haven't heard of anyone having issues like that with Perrin or other types of oem replacement coolers, so I doubt a quality brand like mishimoto would have that issue. A few members already have these coolers and are wrapped with them if that's anything to go by.

Perrin has problems with fitment as it is so large, also I think the turbo may have to clocked slightly.
AVO has soft Alu cast end tank. I have found that the blow off valve bolt holes will strip if you are not careful.
The Mishomoto look like very similar design to AVO.

There is a few guys here who have fitted mishi's to their GT's and havent made any remarks to the issues you bring up. What may look like a similar design might not necessarily mean they will all be the same in terms of issues

I must be thinking of a different Perrin cooler as its almost a mirror image of the Mishimoto. I've got the process west aluminium top mount, and had no issues with the thread for the BOV. And I've taken that off and on a few times. I wouldn't be worried about the Mishimoto either.

But I just remembered, these coolers have a life time warranty... takes all the worries away :good:
