Acetal is ok to machine, but you won't keep tolerances all that tight, you'd be better off doing it out of PETP, much better for tighter tolerances.

I'm assuming most people want these in metal, if people wanted plastic I could help get them pretty cheaply

Yes, the headunit. Not so interesting for those that don't have the McIntosh system, buy a very cool looking dial either way I think.
