Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you guys then. I'll wait and see how your installs go before I do anything about mine.

Log warmup, 60 sec of stationary in-gear 2K rpm, 60 sec of stationary in-gear 3K rpm, then driving below 70Kph, then some freeway K's.

Open logs in ECUedit (ask Bruce) or the app I mentioned - Megalogviewer Lite - in the thread.

If they are way outta sync its the inlet gears, solenoids or sensors.
If just a lttle out of sync check your oil pickup, oil level and or battery condition/connection.

And consider a different tuner when fixed.

It's my opinion that the aggressive avcs maps in the some tunes may exacerbate this condition.

Edited to just "some tunes" & "exacerbate this condition."

Tunes that have more aggressive avcs maps eg that increase VVT angle or shift VVT actuation points significantly may stress the avcs system causing of out of sync issues - based on circumstantial feedback on this forum an reports from tuners/engineers.

What is the actual issue with the avcs problem, what can it cause in the long term exactly?

I've read your thread, but I didn't see anything solid pointing to the tune. I may have missed something, hence I'm asking

Is the stock tune netting you better results?

Performance & economy mainly - that's what avcs is for.
Your tuner may chase their tail if they are unaware of the issue.

Sorry: Bruce, me, Owen & Keiran have had TH tunes & have the avcs issue & a respected tuner/mechanic is reporting 4+ cars needing work all TH tuned.

The TP tune is better in this regard off-cruise but cruise is still oscillating Rhs 0-51 VVT degrees ...

I'm quite happy with the performance of my car and I'm getting 9.0L/100 in economy for driving to work with traffic etc. So if I'm not having any real world issues is there any reason for me to get this fixed in a timely fashion?

I'd have to say do it when you feel the need to.
Just inspecting replacing the solenoids may be enough and is relatively inexpensive.
So it's a storm in a teacup for some... but not for others...

I would certainly recommend logging everything prior to getting any tune.
As your servicing team and or tuner may be unaware of this particular issue.
