CLOSED: McGard Nuts (I just missed out on cruisns group buy)

Postby SYM » Mon May 28, 2012 10:46 pm

Hi Folks

Like what cruisn said in earlier post, I myself am going to purchase a set of McGard lug nuts from lugshack, so pls PM me if you are planning to purchase a set - and we can share the savings on shipping costs
shipping for 1 item is $40.
shipping for 2/3 items is $53 (so shipping cost per person could be down to $27 or $17, depending on how many are down for a purchase)

http://www.lugshack.com/category_s/125.htm

I myself am getting a set of black nuts (16 splinenuts, and 4 lock nuts), and plan to get them shipped to Sydney

Just a general question - subarus use the 12x1.25 lug size right?

Soz dude - I bought them already (about a month ago).... my bad I should have marked this topic as closed.

Total cost was about $130, including a set of 20 lug nuts, 1one spline drive, and shipping

do the new wheels have any site/specs about the type of nuts they use? - ie. conical shape/base (I ask cos I dont know much about the XXRs)

Usually the mcgard nuts should fit most "tuner" wheels..... I think wheere this may be an issue if the hole for the nuts on the XXRs are two small

If I were you, I'd wait to see if your existing lug nuts would fit your new wheels (unless your old lug nuts need replacing anyway)

Another thing to remember is that the tire iron socket thing that you have in your boot won't work for the mcgard nut tool things.
From memory the mcgard tools require 21mm, which is larger than factory.

Don't get caught out not having the right size tools when you get a flat.
