Just thinking aloud, guys, but have you factored in import duties and the like on what Customs would consider to be a commercial quantity? That's assuming there is duty payable on this product. I know enough about that field of expertise to be dangerous but my experience is that they get a bit funny about commercial quantities to individuals.

Just a thought.

cheers,

Well if they are getting quotes from Phat etc. they are registered businesses with ABNs so it doesn't really factor in at all. Phat or whoever is shipping the product in for the group buy would ship it in like any product they stock for it to be distributed to customers as per usual. The end price that is quoted factors in all the costs he would have to pay

Taylor I've already PMd both you and Ben about what Phat has said regarding these prices. Maybe the fact that they STILL haven't been changed has something to do with it. If I ran a business and people were putting my name against something like that I'd want to distance myself from it to as the disappointment of the now near 60 people would tarnish my name as well as the people organising the group buy for me, hypothetically speaking. You should have just kept the $440 per unit pricing (which was only when the exchange rate was much better than it was currently) and left him to give you a better price based on bulk rather than putting down those rediculously cheap ones.

I'm not trying to be a dickhead but this was kind of inevitable.

Being on the list is not tyre kicking if the price changes.
Only the organizers would be at risk. Although that list is pretty unutilised anyway :D

+1 it's just common sense , the prices posted were bull shit to start with, expect for the actual RRP.

How could the cost go from $440 for 1 set to $290 for 5 sets……..

To post this thread before actually speaking to a supplier is just a waste of time.

This was never a group buy for Phat. We simply got people together and asked around for pricing. Yes phat was 1 of the 1/2 dozen people we asked for a quote. I'm not sure when this turned into a group buy for phat.
The only quote we have had from him is the $440 for a single set.
The other pricing never came from him. They where mentally 'what we should' be able to get from looking at other group buy discount percentages etc.
Both Ben and I support phat and love what he does for us. I drove 2 days to see him. I'm not sure why people think we are against him.

No one has said you are against him. It's all about impressions. And the impression from this thread is that the pricing came from Phat, no one said it was a Phat group buy. Even your last post mentioned you have been waiting for Phat to get back to you.

I've explained countless times that you cannot mentally, physically, metaphorically etc. get those prices so why is it such a big deal to delete them to get an accurate indication of who will actually go ahead with the group buy? Not sure how you guys mentally came up with the prices as it's common sense but whatever.

Like I said, I'm not trying to be a dick I'm giving you feedback you just don't want to listen.
