This one is brand new so I haven't used it. Just arrived yesterday.

But I have used a 24-105f/4L IS on my 400D before.
It wents great with a 400D, A found the range very useful, allowing me to easily zoom in on objects if needed. The IS is a big help, if your a little shakey. The 24mm might be a little long due the 1.6x crop body.
The photos are well worth it in the end. Very sharp.

No such truth, used a 24-105L with a 300D, 350D, 400D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 5D (all my previous cameras at some point in time  ) and all focus fine.

Might be individual cameras not calibrated correctly and causing backfocusing/forward-focusing issues.

He he, I have the 24-70 2.8 L series on my 40D 8)

I think the info is a bit confused... the L series lenses will work on ALL Canon bodies (inc the 400D), however, the cheap Canon lenses WILL NOT work on the full frame sensor camera's (5D). That's the only problems I've heard of and I work with pro photogs nearly every day.

For anyone with a 400D, this lens is about 500x times better than the plastic junk that came on it, there really is no comparison. And $1200 is pretty cheap for a pro series lens. Do it Senator...

Bump for Akwoo...

BAD MAN MIB

Price seems to be a bit steep........... i got my 400d twin lens kit and 4 gig card for half the price of this lens........ i know the lenses i got a crap, they full plastic almost 1/4 of the weight of this lens. but its was price i was after for the body

Alan you have a pm

Price one of these lenses from a retailer... $1469 listed at Photo Continental. Best price I can get 'mates rates' is still $1269....

The L series lenses really are very, very good :D

It's about right for a brand new L-series lens.
