Reverse & Parker light upgrade

Postby Cookie_187 » Thu Aug 20, 2009 9:03 pm

i want to change the old sockets for my parker and reverse lights so that i can put decent globes in them... i have white headights that look blue when looking into them but the old yellow colour from the incandescent globes in the parkers ruins the look so i want to be able to put some nice blue looking white lights for my parker lights too, i also want to be able to put good bright white reverse lights in instead of crap incandescent globes. can anyone give me any idea of websites or stores to find such things? i'm planning on going to sydney between the end of this month and january so anywhere in newcastle or sydney is fine

You're probably talking about the bayonet style lightbulbs (push and twist). Philips make ultra white versions of these for not too much $$$. Or of course Fleabay and Leo probably have LED versions :)

yeah, i have the old bayonet style sockets. i found some phillips blue vision globes to slip in but they obviously wouldn't fit so i've been looking to replace the sockets to fit the new style light globes... i've been trying to avoid LED lights for the exterior but am going to replace all of my interior with white LED lights

i found the globes i was talking about...

12036BV

12929BV

12961BV

12961CVST

i like the silver visions as the parkers because they're more white than the blue visions. and either the 6W blue visions or even just the same type as the silver visions in blue vision (the 5W) to have the same sockets, if they're bright enough for reverse lights

^^ Yep they are the globes I was talking about.

I have them in the Bluevision T10 wedge globe in my parkers and they are very white and bright enough. Unless going for the crazy 10SMD LED units (way too bright), the brightness distribution is not very good for the 1W single SMD LED lights. A standard 5W incadecent globe does a better job which is why I chose them.

i meant to post this in the general chat section! i had a few windows open at the time so i guess i accidently used the wrong one. can it be moved by admin? not that it really matters but still...

to clear it up, i currently have (as standard)

parker lights: R10W
&
reverse lights: P21W

and i'd like to upgrade to whatever's possible out of the previously listed globes
i'm leaning slightly more towards those silver vision globes

I found the Bluevision to be very white and bright, plus they are cheaper than the Silvervisions which IMHO are not required unless you're replacing the indicator bulbs in a clear light casing and want to shield some of the amber colour.

alright, blue vision it is... i wish there were adapters! i'll go see some auto electricians tomorrow and see if they've ever known of changing the globe sockets otherwise i'll get onto some wreckers and see if i can salvage some of the sockets from newer cars. i'll let you know how i go

Hey Michael

Where did you get your LED parker and tail lights from as I have been trying for ages to get these for my MYO7 GT Specb sedan, particularly the tail lights?

Would appreciate a contact or link if possible. You mention you got yours from Leo, could you let me know how I can contact him to orgnaise these?

Thanks
