reece hitch cover plug

I know its pretty petty but does any1 know where i could get a Subaru 50mm tow hitch cover. By cover i mean the plug thingo that you put in when the tow bar isn't in the reece hitch. Mine seemed to go missing (nicked) in the Coles carpark last week. Ive already been to Subaru parts and they've said that 50mm tow bars are now discontinued and they cant get the plugs which is a load of BS. Just wondering if anyone knows where i could get one from?

cheers
Dan

I've got one floating around the spare tyre well of mine that I don't use (don't have anything in the hitch for fear of them going missing as your plug seems to have). Not brand spankers though.

Thats total crap, the towbar I had fitted (by subaru) to my liberty is 50mm and that was last year. Remind them that they need to supply parts for 5 years (might actually be 7, i cant remember).

Sounds like the service guy CBF looking it up to order it. I also remember that it wasnt included in the towbar add-on and had to be purchased separately. Was something like $15.

Might be time to get one of those locking pins for next time!

It's this one right?

If you have the time, hassle the parts sections of your local Subaru dealer(s) because if it is only going to be something like $15 to buy new, it's not worth posting a second hander across the country

I have bolted mine using a hex socket head screw through the hole in the bottom right corner, and through the plug at the same point.
Yes, I know it will not stop a thief, but sure slows them down.

You should be able to get one at Repco.
It won't say "Subaru", but who cares. :)

For future reference;
Tow bar blanking plug 40 x 40 = SA901006
Tow bar blanking plug 50 x 50 = SA901007
