Set of 16" rims - never mind, they won't fit :(

I'm looking for a set of 16" rims that will fit on my Spec-B.

This is for the occasional MG club competition. The 18's are just too expensive, and the RE050A tyres aren't really suited for any of the off road stuff.

I already tried some 15x8 WRX wheels a friend had lying around, but there's no way they'd fit over my stock brake calipers.
I'm curious if 16" Outback wheels would fit over my brakes...

Edit: Never mind, I just tested and found that 16" wheels do NOT fit over my front calipers! :(

I do not think you'll find 16" wheels that will fit over the brake calipers on your car, I've tried fitting Impreza 16" wheels on my GT and they were way to small. You need 17"s

Thanks et. I guess that confirms the Outbacks have different brakes.

Actually I've never checked. Do all the MY06 Libertys have the same brakes, or do they vary by model?

GTs and RBs have larger diameter brakes than 2.5 l models and 3 l outbacks
GT & RB - 316 mm rotor diameter
H6 Outback - 294 mm
2.5i - 277 mm

Hey Ric, I know the thread is a little while ago but did you find some suitable 16"s for your rallies? I have some alloy rims on my 2.0L my05 with 205/55R16 potenza's that might be suitable.I was actually talking to Moz yesterday about the one's he's selling and maybe a deal could be worked out that turns out orright for all three of us? the rims have HEAPS of clearance over my brake calipers and a fair bit of space to the rotors too. I however don't know the brake and hub spec differences between our cars?

Are you in Melbourne?
(I'm going to force everyone to fill in their location field somehow... ;))
I'd love to try them on for size, as I suspect my calipers are different to yours.

For reference, I live near Tullamarine, but work in Oakleigh.
(and will be up near Hurstbridge most of Saturday, checking how my MG engine repair is coming along...)

sorry mate, I thought for some (unknown) reason that i had....
no, i'm actually in sydney. i will try to send you some pics but i'm still struggling to do that groovy " pics on the reply(not a link) thing" that everyone else seems able to do. the caliper clearance is a good coupla cm's . i will in the next hour or so actually measure it properly. if you have a mobile that shows pics well i can mms it to you if you like?

rims may have heaps of clearance over the small-ish calipers you have on your naturally aspirated 2 lit model but turbos and 3 l 6cyl models have larger calipers.
If you wnat to confirm that theory I suggest try fitting the 16 inch wheel from 2.0L my05 to your GT spec B.

I have no doubt that you are correct , it really was just an idea (thrown out there to people who knew more than me) to try and get ric, moz and myself what we all wanted...... mo's rims sold , ric his 16"s and me something that looks a bit better at low cost to every one involved.

What size rims are they? Any idea what the inside diameter of the rim is?
(I'm still unsure what size wheels will go over the front calipers of a 3.0R-SpecB.)

The rims are 16", they are pictured in this thread on OzLib::

and in a thread with same title in RSLC.

You'll just need to get some smaller brakes
