Hi guys
I'm looking to buy a air conditioner compressor for our 2007 liberty 2.5i
The current one works sort of lol
Will work for first 30/60mins then just blows "AIR"
Also the compressor is making a squeaky noise
and I noticed that the air con pulley centre(the centre that starts spinning once you turn the air con on)
Actually sometimes doesn't fully spin freely
It's will spin then stop start stop start if that makes sense lol
Anyways
Pop me a pm or SMS
Cheers all

Check your cooling fans (first).
Both MUST work when the air con in ON.
If only one fan is operating (as happened in my No.1 Son's Outback) the unit operates on high head pressure and the air con clutch slips just like you described and squeals a lot.

Just thought you might like to check before spending money.

P.S. I used to be Chief Engineer for air con supplier to Nissan, Ford, Holden, etc.

Well, here is an agricultural method.
If both fans are operating, you need to start looking elsewhere.
If one fan is knocked out (in my Son's case, his motors need new brushes) the try spaying the front of the condenser/radiator with a fine mist of water.
The condensing performance will come back and the cabin will cool better. If the aircon clutch stops slipping - good.
This will reduce the system high side head pressure.
Then stop the water spray. If the cooling performance drops again and the clutch slipping returns then you have your culprit.

That is the best I can give you.
Without fitting up a set of refrigeration pressure gauges a further diagnosis is not possible.
Cheers!

Scrap that !!!
Both Fans are on
And aircon clutch s noisy as anything !!!
So I'm guessing my compressor is no good :(

If I spray The centre (clutch) with wd40 it stops the noise
But normally when I hit it with wd40 it will do the whole stop start stop start thing

A failing TX Valve will start to shut closed causing loss of cooling performance and high side pressure restriction which will load up the compressor causing the clutch to slip.
Needs a set of gauges fitted to diagnose.

You are going to end up taking it to a certified service centre anyway to have the refrigerant recovered and the replacement compressor installed and system charged.

Sorry, I wish that I could help you there with that one but I can't.
I am a professional product development engineer not a service manager
