Hi,

Chasing a fuel sub-sensor for my gen4. Fuel gauge doesn't go any higher than 1/3.

Preferably around SEQ or be willing to post.

Cheers

Im in the same position as you. My mechanic has had to order one from Subaru themselves.

Let me know what the damage is. I assume the level sensor isn't sold separately and comes as a complete pump package that will cost a kidney.

Nah the pump and filter are separate. I bought my pump and filter from Kobe Motorsport who is a site sponsor for $170 delivered. Its a 265L unit so will be compatible with E85 if I choose that route. There are 2 senders in the tank, so be aware of this. I didnt know either. Getting it all fitted tomorrow.

I did read something about this but thought it might have been the older Liberties. Where about is it located?

EDIT: Looks like it's on the opposite side, if this Outback diagram applies: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/att ... l-tank.jpg

I might get out the multimeter on the weekend and see which one is giving me grief. I just spoke to my mechanic and he said to put the car on level ground with a bit of fuel left in it, take a reading, jack up one side of the car, take a reading, do the same to the other side and I'll be able to figure out which one is stuffed.

Got my car back today. The senders arent cheap. Ordered from Subaru because there are no after market options. $340 for the 2 plus fitting. Ouch. But needed to be done.

Yikes.

After some testing on the weekend I'm fairly sure that the sub-sensor is the one that is not working. I took resistance readings on both sensors with the car on level ground, one side up on a ramp, and then the other. The tank had about 20L or so in it and while I got some variation in readings on the main sensor (7-13), the sub-sensor always read 63-64 ohms. Then I filled the tank up and the main sensor went to 2.5ohms and the sub-sensor stayed at 63ohms. I expected the main sensor to read lower given how low the tank was but the fact the sub-sensor never varied makes me think that's the culprit. It makes sense that it only ever reads a 1/3 when full (63+2.5 =~66 ohms = 1/3 tank) (gauge reads 0 when full, and up to 100 when empty).

So I'm on the hunt for a sub-sensor. Fingers crossed I can find one without shelling out too much.

I just bought a part based on a recommendation from here in my thread from partsouq.com....seem really cheap for genuine parts!
