Hello.
I am just searching for a cheaper option for the rear brake bracket such as these.

I am soon to receive some brembo brakes and I am getting excited as f**k but I was told I need to buy the bracket to fit the rear. So I checked out the link provided on an other thread and the cost total I can do but I just want to see anyone has some spare they do not want etc etc

One thing to beware: The Kartboy adapter was designed for the WRX and your Liberty's rear assembly will require some significant modification with a grinder to fit the Kartboy adapter. I should know - I've got Kartboys on mine...

hmmm... yeah no that sounds like soo much fun..... I can wait. Also when you bought the bracket from that company what did you have to do to get it into Aust, such as customs and shit because this is the first time I have been asked about it and I have very little idea about it.

Tuspeed.com.au has them for $275, you can give Adam a call there and ask about it...

No need to worry about customs until your package is over $1000AUD.

Not sure if there are other brands available from the legacy gt boys in US, I googled today, couldn't find for sure. There is KNS, but apparently they're not as good as kartboys.

Correct, but remember that figure also includes the shipping cost. It is after all, a tax that applies to goods AND services, so a package that was $950 all up but had a $60 shipping fee would put you over the $1K threshold and attract GST.

Yeah I've heard there are subtle variations of the rear assembly that affect the fit with some closer than others, but I've never heard of any of them fitting without any modification at all. In my case, it was literally only a few millimetres difference, hence the grind.

The annoying part is grind, test fit, grind, test fit, lather rinse repeat until it finally lines up. It gets really old really fast.

No, the shipping cost does not apply to the $1000AUD threshold. You can buy a $999.99AUD item and pay $300 shipping and wouldn't get taxed, even if it does raise some eyebrows. BUT if your package exceeds the $1000AUD marker, then you will have to pay the tax (10-15% can't remember) on the amount you paid for the package AND the amount you paid for shipping. Not fun to be caught out by a few cents, when the exchange rate changes value overnight and you don't check before buying...

And yep, just quoting Mark there regarding the Kartboys. I'm somewhat puzzled myself as to how some fit and some don't

Had to do a similar thing with the fuel filter when fitting the DW340 pump. Except every two seconds you're running the risk of making the walls too thin and breaking the $70 ($130 local) filter lol. The test fitting and then having to tape up the filter to stop the dust from enetering, grinding, undoing all the tape in order to test fit...rinse and repeat...and physically running out of things to grind down, and the pump still not fitting....took 2 days of swearing just to raise the pump 3mm. But all the work makes you appreciate it more.

Hmmm... I was always advised of the former. I'm sure the rules keep changing just as much as the exchange rate anyway - will have to look into it again.

Well, it's just a few mm. I wouldn't be surprised if it's simply slight variances in the factory casting process, really.

Okay I am glad to hear that about customs and shipping, would be really annoying to do all that shit if i go over $1000. I will contact Adam and ask about the bracket only because i would rather send my money to a local company father then a foreign company and I am a fairly unlucky person so I reckon I would have to do the grinding ahah.
