I'm a wagons man! Otherwise I would have parted ways with the forester, bought yours and have it sitting in my garage for the last two weeks haha. Unless of course you wanna swap ;)

After selling my 08 3.0R Premium, and regretting it every day, i'm now chasing an 06 (ish) Sti Liberty

Preferences would be Manual (Rare, I know) Service history, NO Mods, and then the usual - Low Km's, one lady owner only ever driven on highway etc etc :)

The only problem is I have an absolute maximum of 20K - and I'm in Perth. Whilst I'm happy to buy interstate, transport and re-rego would have to come off the 20K price.

Can I get one for that price? I'll let you fine people, and the market, decide...

Cheers

Auto, but well priced 06 STI.

Still auto, higher kms, but cheap and in WA. Could maybe do a manual conversion and still be under $20k?

What's a 6 speed and install cost?

And what should I be looking for with a vehicle with that many km's on it?

I guess I'd prefer to try and squeeze into an 07 - as the good people here suggest, the 2.5 is a much better option than the 2.0

Appreciate the sleuth work trying to find me something though

to be open and honest with everyone, I'm also looking at an A3 quattro 3.2 S line with DSG (puts flame suit on)

A 6 speed conversion requires a lot more work than just the gear box. Have to mate the correct rear diff, and then correct rear shafts etc etc.

Would be looking at $3k-$4k for the box alone, then all other accessories and of coarse a killer labour bill. Id budget around $6k for a swap, using all used parts. If you've got $6k to throw at a gearbox swap, i would highly highly recommend going for a 07/08 which has the lot. And yeh, the 2.5 is a MUCH nicer engine to drive than the 2.0. My last Impreza STi was a 2.0, and even after i went full JDM twin scroll, it still was a slug to drive in traffic.

EDIT:
Found this great background info if considering a 6MT conversion, and all the work involved.

yep - to be honest, the whole conversion thing doesn't suit.

Stock standard is the way to go..

Bump - still looking for a ...

Sti (dreaming, I know)
GT-B Spec 07 onwards

Has to be manual, preference would be silver

and no mods

See a couple in there on the For Sale section - however not keen on Black.
