WTB: (Tuned by) STi Liberty

Postby Jamo » Tue Mar 19, 2013 11:52 pm

Hi all,

After selling my 08 3.0R Premium, and regretting it every day, i'm now chasing an 06 (ish) Sti Liberty

Preferences would be Manual (Rare, I know) Service history, NO Mods, and then the usual - Low Km's, one lady owner only ever driven on highway etc etc :)

The only problem is I have an absolute maximum of 20K - and I'm in Perth. Whilst I'm happy to buy interstate, transport and re-rego would have to come off the 20K price.

Can I get one for that price? I'll let you fine people, and the market, decide...

Cheers

You could pick up a 06 TB STI for early 20's, but can i ask why you would want an 06? Hardly an upgrade going from a 3.0R to a 2.0L with a tiny turbo.

Much better off going for an 07/08, although your looking at early 30's for a good one under 100k km. - i know, because mine is for sale.

G'day mate,

really it's just a money thing. The 3.0R Prem was a work car, so had to go back after 4 years. I've now been given a brand new Kluger, and it's driving me nuts!

So the plan is to loan the Kluger to the missus, sell her car, and buy myself another Soobs.

Mate, I'd love to get into an 07/08 - but I just can't afford it - 20K is my absolute limit. An 06 came up for sale here in WA for 17K (180K km's), but didn't last long.

I'm also keeping my eye out for an immaculate B4 (manual/silver/NO Mods/Low Kms/FSH/MY03) - really just miss driving a Subaru mate! I'm sure I've seen yours on Carsales/on these forums - I spend hours scouring all the usual haunts looking for one that meets the criteria.

Just buy an 07/08 GTB.
And modify it with sti mods later on.

You still get a descent base, but much cheaper then an sti.

You wont get into a post face lift sti for under 30k.

Do this...

Or just get a normal GT and do some small mods

I own an 07 STI
I know the differences

The 06 and below are not worth the sti badge price.

I would be aiming for a 07 gtb.

Best bang for buck.

Bit out of the price range. Maybe worth a lowball or some negotiating

For an 06 model you got two chances, buckleys & SFA.... I got lucky and found my 06 manual in Silver with only 96xxxkm on her, but to be honest you would be looking at about $21-$23k at least for a good example with the kms you're looking for, but good luck all the same.

Thanks mate - I'm happy to wait. Not to say that i won't perhaps extend my search to include the 07 B Spec like the wise folks here have suggested.

I think from memory, the 07 onwards picked up the 2.5l..?

What I'm really looking for is Sports Luxury under 20K - Also looked at (and ruled out) Lexus, '02 Audi S4, 02-ish 330 BM's, the odd 5 series.

I just keep on coming back to Subaru meeting my criteria. Before the 3.0R, I had a 94 Heritage wagon - so it's in my blood.

Yes. MY07 onwards GT has the 2.5L and single scroll turbo. Nice combo with the 6 speed manual.

Also if you do buy interstate shipping costs etc would be on top of your 20k budget so would be closer to $23-$25k for a good interstate example.
