Hey guys,

Looking for a McIntosh Amp for a Gen 4 MY07+, if any has one laying around and not using it...

Didnt close my water bottle properly, took a sharp right hand corner quickly (trying to make the light) and it flew and spilt down the side of the passenger seat... and into the amp... :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

By the time i pulled over to disconnect the amp, it was too late :cray:

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys and gals!!

Open it up and leave it in the sun and you might be lucky. It could be saved as long as there isn't too much oxidisation or damage already...

Cheers Phil

Due to my laziness (this happened not last weekend, but the weekend before), I opened it up tonight and because the edges of the McIntosh are somewhat sealed tight (screwed tight + black tape)... its held some of the water inside...

I guess they sealed it in that way for spillages from the front or back... not from side on... dammit

Can you take a pic of the amps guts and upload??? On a side note, ampguts.com is one of my favourite websites... Is that lame?

Not lame at all... At least you'll know how to repair/revive stuff like that...

I'll take some pics tmw and will upload.

I also checked the internal fuse. Looks fine but couldn't yank it out to confirm. Looks like the tips of the fuse are solder onto the pcb board.

Had the same thing happen to mine, quoted $1400 brand new so I bought a second hand one.

My old amp is in for a rebuild at the moment so I will be selling that shortly? Meant to be picking it up tomorrow.

hey phil... as requested...

gave it a little wipe down with a dry cloth...

looks like the water has mixed with some of the dirt on the carpet... make the water/juices a bit brown as well...

Hey bud,

I really don't think that looks too bad at all. You may get lucky on this one. Leave it in the sun or heat it with a heat gun/hair dryer on a lowish setting and you might get away with it.
