WTB: 4th Gen 3.0RB

Hi There,

I'm looking to buy a 4th Gen Liberty 3.0RB as the title suggests. I'm set on a 3.0RB im not really interested in a GT.

Budget $20,000 or under
Manual
Sedan or Wagon doesnt bother me
KMs: as low as possible until about 90,000 after 90k I would prefer it to be over 100,000kms with the 100k service done
I have looked through carsales pretty thoroughly.

100K service doesn;t matter on the 3.0
they have timing chains instead of a belt

you'll be lucky to get an R-B for that kind of coin though..

You will get a 3.0rb for that money, just not with the km you are looking for. Or in an auto. But you also might get lucky.

Yeh I've got my eye on a few with 85,000 kms on them good to know about the timing chain as well thanks.

you'll notice the engine has a whine/ hum, that's the timing chain/ tensioners doing their job!

Cool sounds awesome, is it a bit like a supercharger whine or something completely unique? Cant wait to test drive a couple. Anything to lookout for? A mate said to go to a carpark or similar and do full lock figure 8's to make sure there is no clunking.

Yep,
try and do about 50km to warm up the tranny, then do the fig8's
if it clunks/ binds up, the centre diff is mcr00ted and gonna be the best part of $1K to sort it.
had this happen to my car.

there's a 3RB buyers guide floating round here somewhere that lists heaps of stuff to look out for (mostly minor).

Yeh had a quick browse through the 3RB sepcific forum thanks. The only problem is I feel a bit awkward racking up 50kms on someones car in a test drive lol.

Could be worse, you could have bought yours a couple of weeks before the arse fell out of the second hand market in October 2008 Values in my area dropped nearly 5k in a week

the R-B has a black leather interior, and 18inch rims
the R has a tan leather (i think thats the right name for it) interior and 17 inch rims
It was only the R-B that came with the 6sp manual as well, as far as i know

neilgero's Lib would probably be a good buy, a few tasteful mods he has a thread it the for sale section for it i think
