Wanted To Buy...

Postby [ITS-STI] » Fri Aug 12, 2011 7:50 am

I would like to buy high quality headers, up pipe and a front mount intercooler as i am chasing more power and quite over the rumble again... Also, i would like to know any stand alone engine management upgrades for this vehicle if any as i find it ridiculous spending in excess of $1,000.00 for a tune and because im not going to stop there... Cheers, Nick

Recommend Kando equal or unequal length headers off eBay , great value for money, check out the process west tmic, still capable of big hp. Or if your set on a fmic, speak to Process west and see if they can do a custom kit

Gambit, you're on the ball my friend... I have heard alot of excellent feedback about these headers on eBay but i can't seem to find the listing... Is it possible for a link? Also, i don't mind a tmic but for the figures i'm chasing in the end a fmic has always given me better results than any tmic! =) Thanks again!

Nick, How much power are you chasing 250kw????, more then 500kw????

The more power you want, might mean you need to get your hardware (headers, up-pipe, FMIC) custom made.

I know the oem headers and up pipe are capable of handling 250-260 kw.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

Whoa! No, not that much... I would like something around the 250 kw at the wheels... It's not that the headers will give me a significan power change it is also the sound... I am over the boxer tone and i like the power and torque change they provide in the mid range...

If you're looking for 250 stick with the big TMIC and get a bigger turbo!

You're looking at at least 4 times that for an Autronic setup that can control AVCS (all hardware, labour and tuning) and forget about resale, after spending time or money going back to stock your Autronic box might be worth a grand.

The factory ECU is great and more than capable of supporting your 250atw goal.

In fact, I'd suggest paying anything up to $2k ... if you can find a decent tuner (big IF).

Agreed pw tmic is good for up to 300awkw , msr uses a pw tmic with a similar core albeit for a v5 gc8 and it's making that power. If I had my time again I would run the pw tmic Romesti has, less hassle and trouble.
EL for the win, it changed the tone of my exhaust from unbearable to quiet.

I think they do nick. Either way it's not hard to paint the process west one before it's installed!
