A long shot but has anyone got a set of wheel nuts with lock nuts in black/gunmetal etc

My bleck ultraleggera rims are ruined by the fading chrome nuts and don't really want to fork out hundreds for brand new rays...

You can get black McGard ones from the US pretty cheap. Less than $150 (i think thats what i got it for) for the splinedrive + locking nut. These are the same as the STi ones minus the STi logo. www.lugshack.com

Get the McGard splined nuts from http://www.lugshack.com (same as STI branded nuts but a fraction of the price). I'd suggest get the locknuts while you're there.

Buy a spare (set of) keys while you're at it.

What are mcgard nuts made out from?

I had rays nuts (aluminium) on my old 180 and was always petrified of over tightening and damage from tyre guys being heavy handed. I went thru tyres quite quickly too :D

Steel. I too would never use aluminium nuts.

Rays and other Japanese companys that make wheel nuts don't use aluminium, they use Duralumin which is alot harder and stronger

If the wheel had deep cavities and the wheel nut was recessed in, it wouldn't be so bad as they would be subtle. But if the head poked out a bit, I think a closed top looks better and more elegant. The open top looks raw, and would be great if you are after a race look.

FWI I ended up going with BLACK KICS leggdura racing Duralumin wheel nuts that come with 4 locking nuts, look identical to rays but a bit cheaper. Thanks Phat :D
