I swear this thread needs to be like stickied in gigantic letters on the forum banner or something.
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9444Let me try and TL:DR it for you.
MY07-08 Tuned by STi Libertys are effectively Liberty GT Spec.B's that have had their Wheels, suspension, brakes(rotors/pads/calipers) and exhaust replaced by the Tuned by STi versions of each respective part....think Enkeis and Brembos etc.
That means they had to remove 300 sets of wheels from MY07 and 250 sets of wheels from MY08 GT Spec.B's. (I think thats the numbers of TB Sti's...might be wrong) That means a huge amount of these rims and tyres had been sitting unused since delivery KM's off the boat (as an average around 13km...so basically brand new)
Tempe Tyres currently sells the GT Spec.B Rims for $100 a pop. If you drove a hard bargain by purchasing a full set of 4/5 rims+tyres you could probably knock the tyres down to $190 each (These are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A worth $450 new). The only downside to the Tyres is that they are 2 years old, but provided you get some good use out of them, 2 years is not going to be detrimental to the tyres performance or safety, and as a general rule of thumb anything after 5 years old is no good to use. So unless you plan on keeping a set of tyres for 3 years......go for it.
If you do try and knock the price down on this stuff, remind Tempe Tyres that the tyres are already halfway through their effective use by date (whether or not thats true is unknown to me.....but remind them it anyway) I think it's illegal to sell tyres after a certain length of time since production....I'm not sure on the exact time but I think it's 5 years.
EDIT: There are 2 main sellers from that thread, one is Wheelpower and the other is Tempe Tyres. Currently Tempe Tyres had the better deal last time I checked, but you are best off calling both of the places and asking for their best price.
