Sorry to revive an old thread, but are there any pictures still available of this mod, from those who bought it a few years ago?

You mean to put black steering wheel controls in?

Yes, a picture of the Black Steering Wheel controls you installed, please. No need for a how-to, just to see what they look like.

I would like to get darker controls, since I have the darker STi interior trim pieces on the dash as well (around the head unit and glovebox). I have stock silver steering wheel controls, but haven't been able to find a picture of the black controls. A lot of pictures online are not of our style (or black buttons with silver surround). Or no Part# for the corresponding picture. So it's hard to decide what to buy.

I'll put up some pics later.
I found a set of 5 button lhs swc's and just used the black buttons and cover on my 6 button base and pad: swaps right over.
The mode and mute buttons become one big mode button: just press the top for one function and the lower edge for the other.
Plug n play, use a 30torx to remove the horn pad/airbag assy, put some strips of masking tape from the steering wheels rear cover to the steering column cover, cut it at the join, then loosen the steering wheel 20mm nut, hammer it with your fists gently till it releases, take off the nut and remove wheel, and the swc's have a Phillips on the rear of the wheel...

Ok, cool. Thanks. There's very little info on them (or at least what Part# is what colour), so that's sorted now .

There must be at least 2 different types of black swc's.
The 6 button lhs type in the op with the answer button at top right, mine with 5 buttons/big mode button, etc.
But swapping out the lhs base and pad retains plug n play for harness compatibility regardless

Yeah I've seen the answer button ones also . I think I'd prefer the 5 button one.
Ah ok, I'll save this info for when/if I do this mod. I planned to order the pieces this weekend, but bought something I've always wanted - a Damd D-Shaped steering wheel (w black stitching). So this swc mod might have to wait.
