Doesn't look much worse than my filter when I first bought this car! Just refit the carrier with no filter for now until you get yours from Phat. Running no filter has got to be better than running that turd in there!

I thought bout that but it's cool, I've got my S14 200sx 2 drive around until I sell it, but thanks 4 the idea, also I ended up taking the glove box out without removing the little rope on left side, (like overload's diy thread) glove box was just hanging but was supported on floor so I didn't stretch the rope, pretty easy in the end, washed the carrier with a soapy sponge then rinsed cos that was dirty as well!

The filter is not just there to keep you from breathing dust and outher contaminants but its there to keep the evaporator free from dirt. If dirt and dust pile up on this part once the ac is switched on water sweating from the evaporator will turn to muck (lack of a better word) and reduce its efficiency and also will give you that moldy smell

Subaru Japan change this filter every 20.000km which is part of a survice
