Is this to replace the pollen filter behind the glovebox?

Here's mine when I changed it. Don't think the previous owner had it done at all (it was Subaru serviced).

When my genuine filter is due again I'll look at getting one of these.

That's nasty Jim.

Btw, is there any instruction to open the glove box?

Thanks

You have to remove the gearshift knob, gear shifter surround, center console side trim strip, center console lefthand side panel, lefthand side of glovebox, lhs sill panel trim, lhs kick panel trim, glovebox undertrim, unhook the retracting support for the glovebox then the whole glovebox comes out, then you can access the cabin filter.

The first time takes a long time but then you can get it done in 10-15mins flat every time after that. Still it seems that most mechanics do not even bother.

In later models (2006 onwards I think) they made a slight change where you can remove the glovebox without all the center console and other bits. Even later models there is an access slot that makes it a less than 5min process.

So overl0ad's walkthrough doesn't work for the pre-facelift cars?

Jim, that is really nasty. I'm surprised you're not inhaling bug feces all this time. :bad:

Not for the 2004 for sure. 2005 I don't believe so either. That opening on the LHS of the glovebox shelf where it shows the filter is behind, does not exist on the 2004 so you have to remove the whole back of the glovebox which is behind all the other bits I mentioned.

In 2006 is when they introduced that opening in the glovebox back I believe. You can actually buy the pieces to do a "conversion" for earlier models for about $100 or a bit more worth of new panels but it's not worth it considering you only need to access the area maybe once every 10-15KKms depending how dirty your environment is, and it only takes minimal time to do it once you know how.

Im not sure what you are doing wrong (ment in a nice way) but i have changed these filters on Libertys from 2.0na, 2.0GT ,2.5,B to 3RB's (04-09) and the fitment is all the same (5mins flat max)

unless you have a realy odd model but ill check with a visit to a local subi dealer today to have a sticky beek

This is the procedure I had to use:

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.p ... bin+filter

(The center glovebox tray is not removable on mine which means whole glovebox had to come out).

Jim, that Procedure way too long I think.

I will try to use Overload step by step, because I saw that step that U gave(libertygt), just way too complicated and I don't want to open up my glove box and stuff.

To unsrew the middle panel, it's simply just took out the gear knob and pull it out.

After I get the AC filter from Phat, I will try to take photo, just to make sure. Since Adhar(Andrew), already said using the same step as overload.

Thanks
