[CLOSED] Phat Quad Tip Mufflers In Mild Steel

Postby Arith » Wed Jun 03, 2009 1:09 am

Temporarily Closed To Allow Phat GT To Finish Existing Orders

Not everyone has to have stainless steel. Some are just fine with mild steel, especially when it's less dear and has a aluminite coating to resist rust and corrosion.

Since I posted the mild steel set painted in gunmetal, there have been quite a bit of interest from people who are either looking for less expensive mufflers or like it painted rather than stainless.

So I spoke with Phat and he doesn't mind producing a mild steel version of his quad tip mufflers. Thus, on offer, are Phat Performance Products Quad Tip Mufflers in a mild steel version. These are made to order and both the sedan and wagon versions are available. Once things settle down with the other orders, production time should be about 2 weeks.

Just to clarify these are the exact same muffler as the stainless steel version, only in mild steel. But they will still have the Phat quality we've all gotten used to, and all full production quality mufflers with a perfect fit.

Pricing
Since it's mild steel, there are now options available:

$525* Delivered
1) Mild Steel Muffler / Mild Steel Tips / Unpainted

$550* Delivered
1) Mild Steel Muffler / Stainless Steel Tips / Unpainted
2) Mild Steel Muffler / Stainless Steel Tips / Painted Muffler**
3) Mild Steel Muffler / Mild Steel Tips / Painted Muffler & Tips**

* Unfortunately due to higher cost of shipping, WA members will have to pay an extra $25
** You have your colour option of a gay navy blue colour, or the gunmetal colour (consider yourself lucky because Phat wanted to have the navy blue paint free of charge while the more popular gunmetal would be $50 extra :P)

Pictures
Here are some sample pictures of the mild steel mufflers that were painted in gunmetal. I will try to take some bare mild steel mufflers as well.

Phat's made x1 centre pipe in mild steel at the moment. Don't think it's spoken for yet. But he plans to make a few more in mild steel.

Err, to the mufflers to the stainless steels centre? Because they will be cheaper than the stainless steel centres.

I think they're look better. Shinier. And probably stay looking good for longer than the mild steel.

I went for the mild steel muffler with stainless steel tips.

Stainless steel is more durable and longer lasting, and as Darren pointed out, more shiny. :P

However you it's extremely hard to paint stainless, so if you want painted tips for a more stealthy or less bling appearance, the tips will have to be mild steel.

It's for both mate.

$550 per muffler is a steep asking price, you'd be in STi Quad's territory.. Well not even close. lol.
