dump pipe heat shield cutting info

Postby PHAT GT » Thu May 28, 2009 7:59 pm

Hi guys

for those of you that bought one of my dump pipes for the 2.5L turbo Libertys below is a diagram of how to cut the turbo heat shield down to clear your new dump pipe.

you will have no use for the lower half of the shield once the new dump is fitted (sorry no pics of the section) as it bolts to the factory dump

it is important you follow this as cutting this way will protect you steering coloum damper which is made of rubber located to the left of the dump (looking from the front of the car) and stop any rattles

OH!!! please check that the O2 sensor wires (just as they come from the sensor) under the car alongside the gear box clear the heat sheild.if not on some cars the thin aloy sheild may need a little bending

this is due to using a larger pipe side and the drive shaft being right above the dump so the sensor sits heigher making space abit tight

PLEASE PRINT THIS PIC AND TAKE IT TO WHOMEVER YOU CHOOSE TO INSTALL THE DUMP :D

actually its not that much louder than before - the burble might be a little bit more noticeable at idle and cruise (only a bit). I would say though that the sound has definately changed when on the gas (havent had much time to give it a proper go)

..the real test will be to see if my wife notices :)

These dumps are excellent quality. I've had several ppl also compliment on the quality and more importantly actual fitment.

Phat mate, you have designed this well and for the money, I'd go Phat DP over any other Australian made one.

I had mine fitted on Tuesday by PHAT and the help of Livepool Exhaust.
I could not believe how spot on the fit was and the cutting of heatshield and attachment to stock centre.
The fit made it look too easy especially after i saw the engine cover coming off as i had no idea that the TMIC had to come off....lol..

PHAT DP makes stock look like a pile of junk even though i took it home.

So thanks to Jim for organising and PHAT for his product and work.
