[EOI] Phat Performance Products - MY04-MY06 Dump Pipes

Postby Arith » Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:59 pm

I spoke with Phat tonight about the turbo dump pipes for the MY04-MY06 Liberties with the 2.0 turbo. He was gathering interest for this when he abruptly left participating in the forum. Unfortunately the progress on this has halted since then as well.

I asked Phat if he could start on this again, and he said if I could get enough people interested he would make it. So .... let me see if I can add another Group Buy to the list!

Register Your Interest
So I need about x10 people to make this happen. I will also need a local Sydney sider who would be willing to volunteer their car for 2-3 days for fitting and testing. A deposit of $200 would be needed as Phat needs to pay for things up front to some of the suppliers.

Pricing
Most likely the same price as the MY07+ dump pipes: ~ $900. And yes, discounted if you've already bought the muffler and centre pipe.

Time Frame
Once we get enough buyers to start the process, it will take about 2-3 weeks of R&D before release production will begin.

Technicals
Aww, don't make me post up the technicals on what a dump pipe is and how it works.

Although these dump pipes won't be available until weeks after the centre pipes are made available, a discount will be available for anyone who have purchased the muffler and/or centre pipe already.

if getting a dump and center pipe, will this bolt straight onto the STi twin tipped mufflers?

cause if that is the case I'd be interested in getting the dump and center too and is that to include everything from turbo to behind rear diff for existing muffler bolt up?

Yes, all of Phat's products are design so that any part on its own will fit with a stock system.

Hmm. I'm not sure if getting the dump and centres to hook up to stock mufflers will be of any benefit.

Because this system is meant to reduce back pressure to allow the turbo to work at peak efficiency. But if you reduce back pressure at the dump and centres, but then bottlenecks at the mufflers, you will see some gain but not as much if you had more free flowing mufflers.

hehe, I remember when we bought our (stock) MY97 Forester GT after our modified 92 Liberty RS.

Wifey's first comment was "too quiet and too much body roll on the corners - can see nothing but bitumen out the windows"

No problem. It's just an EOI at this point until we can get the magic number!

Just a bit of an update: I spoke to Phat today and he's getting the flanges for the dump pipes done next week. So once they come back, it's just a matter of test fitting the pipes with an auto and a manual tranny and they'll be ready for production in no time.
